8 Hacks For Creating High-Converting Social Media Copy

Are you struggling to write high-converting social media copy?

By the time you’ve finished reading this short guide, you’ll know the secrets to improving conversions on your social media platforms. Say “hello” to more leads and conversions.

Hack #1: Promote.

Ask yourself, “What are my product or service benefits?”

The benefits of your product or service allow customers to see the value in what you are offering. Make sure you are focusing on the benefits - not just the features. Benefits are the improvements you can make whereas features are the attributes of what you are offering.

Hack #2: Competitors.

I'm sure you have plenty of competitors and often see them as having negative influences on your business. Instead, switch it, play to your competitors' weaknesses.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • What sets you apart from them?

  • How do they fall short?

  • Why would someone buy your product or service over theirs?

Hack #3: Platform.

Whichever social media platform you are using should have copy suitable for the predominant audience who use that platform.

Your copy should be tailored to the audience, right down to the:

  • Structure

  • Word selection

  • Hashtags

  • Emojis

Tip: Use up to 5-6 line spacing between the end of your post and your hashtags OR if you are on Instagram use your hashtags as the first comment.

Hack #4: Forget The Jargon.

Here are some examples of word swaps:

  • Thinking outside the box – original

  • Bring to the table – can provide

  • Leverage – use

  • Strategic – useful

  • Going forward – in future

  • Deliverables – results

  • Touch base – talk

Hack #5: Perspective.

Don't tell your audience how great your product or service is or how amazing your team is. Take a step back and focus on your customers, their lifestyle, passions, concerns and challenges.

Write from the reader’s perspective because readers only care about what’s in it for them.

Also, remember not to speak to the whole world in your copy, instead speak directly to your target market. You need to understand your primary target audience and target their age range, gender, interests, geographic location, hobbies, job preferences, income ... the list goes on.

Hack #6: CTA.

At the end of the day, you run a business and as much free information as you may be writing, you still need to use Call To Action (CTA) in your copy. Don’t be afraid to use a sense of urgency in your CTAs. Limiting time usually entices your audience to take action swiftly.

You need to be encouraging your audience to act by including some compelling phrases such as:

  • Act now

  • Order yours today

  • Join our community

  • It's time to take action

  • Reserve your spot today for our seminar

Turn ‘Reserve your spot today for our seminar’ to Reserve your spot today - before it fills up’ or ‘Call us’ to ‘Call us today’.

Hack #7: Proof, Proof, Proof.

There is nothing worse than a perfectly curated image with a perfectly structured caption ... the only thing missing is punctuation. Use Grammarly to triple check all your spelling. You can even add Grammarly to your Chrome Browser so it's on autopilot.

Hack #8: Perfecting Instagram Captions.

Gone are the days of using "..." between lines of your Instagram captions. Make the appearance of the copy sleek and seamless with perfect spacing. Use this tool to achieve the perfect caption spacing.
